2008 Free Summer Learn-to-Swim Program
Registration fee: $10.00 per family
 
 
Each summer, the Roanoke Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross offers free
learn-to-swim lessons for both children and adults. 
Classes are available for individuals 6 months of age through adult. 
Morning and evening classes are available.
 
  •         * The lessons are free; however, there is a $10.00 non-refundable
    registration fee for the entire family. This fee will be used to offset the
    cost of pools, instructor wages and processing of the paperwork. 
    This fee is due at time of registration. 
    VISA, MASTERCARD, DISCOVER, AMERICAN EXPRESS, CHECK and CASH
    are acceptable forms of payment.
 
  • *Water-testing is required for all new participants to the program. Participants
    must come prepared to get in the water and demonstrate their ability in the water,
    regardless of skill level. The times indicated are the hours registration will be held. 
    You will only be there long enough to have your child water-tested and
    enroll them in the appropriate level based on skill performance.
 
  • *You may be water-tested at any pool listed and take classes at another location.

  • *Children between the ages of 6 months and 4 years of age will automatically
    be enrolled in the Infant and Preschool classes.
    A parent or guardian is required to be in the water with the child
    during their respective sessions. Children enrolled in the Infant/Preschool
    classes will attend four-30 minute sessions.
 
  • *All sessions will begin on Monday, June 16. Sessions will run for four days over
    two weeks for children in Levels 1 through 6. Each session will last 30 minutes.
  • *All locations will operate Monday through Thursday sessions with the exception of
    Washington Park pool. Sessions at Washington Park will be held on
    Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
    Morning and evening classes are available.

  • For all new participants:  Complete the registration form, permission slip and parent agreement (one per child) for the Learn-to-Swim Program and bring to registration along with the course fee.

    For returning participants:  If you have been in the program previously, you may enroll in the appropriate level without attending the water-testing.
    Complete the registration form, permission slip and parent agreement (one per child) for the Learn-to-Swim Program and mail along with the fee to Betty W. Whittaker, American Red Cross, 352 Church Avenue, SW, Roanoke, Virginia 24016.
